Washington, September 29, 2026 (LANA) – Emad Mustafa Al-Trabelsi, Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, met today in Washington with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs. The meeting addressed a number of issues and topics of mutual interest.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the meeting covered ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between Libya and the United States in the security sector. Discussions focused on supporting collaboration between the two countries' security institutions to help develop security capabilities and facilitate the exchange of expertise in areas of shared interest.

The two sides also discussed the issue of illegal migration, efforts to combat this phenomenon and mitigate its repercussions, and the strengthening of coordination in this area to bolster border security and enhance the capacity of relevant institutions to address migration-related challenges.

Both parties emphasized the importance of continued communication and coordination between Libya and the United States, as well as support for efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in Libya and consolidating the operations of security institutions within established legal and institutional frameworks.
