Tripoli, September 29, 2026 (LANA) – Taher Al-Baour, the official in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, met on Tuesday with an Ethiopian delegation participating in the preparatory expert meetings for the second session of the Libyan-Ethiopian Joint Ministerial Committee. The delegation was led by Ambassador Zerihun Abebe Yigzaw, Director General of African Affairs at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the meeting—held at the Ministry’s headquarters—addressed Libyan-Ethiopian relations and avenues for developing joint cooperation across various sectors to serve the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples. The discussions also covered the outcomes of the preparatory expert meetings for the Joint Ministerial Committee’s second session, the agenda items, and the necessary arrangements for holding the ministerial session itself, all aimed at advancing and expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination, consultation, and the exchange of visits and expertise to bolster cooperation between Libya and Ethiopia in areas of mutual interest.
