Tripoli, September 29, 2026 (LANA) – Salem Maatouq Al-Zadma, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, discussed mechanisms to support and develop health services in the southern region during a meeting held today, Tuesday. The meeting was attended by the head and members of the Committee for Supporting and Developing Health Services in the Southern Region.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s official page stated that the meeting addressed ways to enhance coordination between the southern region, the Ministry of Health, and its affiliated bodies, centers, and institutions. The aim is to ensure the monitoring of health facility needs, identify the difficulties and challenges they face, and work toward resolving them through a clear and organized mechanism.

Participants discussed several proposals regarding the development of monitoring and coordination systems, as well as the support and enhancement of therapeutic and specialized services—particularly in cardiology and catheterization, nephrology, oncology, emergency medicine, and other specialties prioritized by the region's residents.

The meeting emphasized the importance of establishing a working mechanism based on continuous monitoring and coordination, as well as clearly defining responsibilities and priorities. This approach aims to facilitate practical, implementable solutions, enhance health service levels, and improve the quality of medical care provided to citizens in the southern region.

This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to monitor the health sector in the southern region, assess the needs of health facilities, and work toward improving the services provided to citizens.
