Tripoli, 28 September 2026 (Lana) U.S. President’s Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, stressed that the time has come to build on this momentum by unifying Libya’s institutions, deepening security integration, and supporting a Libyan-led path toward national elections and lasting peace.
“Libyans from east and west have made important progress on a unified budget, economic and security coordination, and a UN-facilitated electoral framework,” Boulos said in a tweet.
Boulos’ tweet came following his participation in co-hosting a side event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, entitled “International Support for Peace, Unity, and Prosperity in Libya,” with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Hanna Tetteh, and partners from Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
