Ministry of Oil and Gas Organizes the 2026 National Conference on a Just and Sustainable Energy Transition

Tripoli, September 27, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Oil and Gas organized the 2026 National Conference on a Just and Sustainable Energy Transition in the capital, Tripoli, with broad participation, prominently featuring the “Energy Generation” and “New Energy Tech” initiatives.

More than 200 ambassadors of the “Energy Generation” initiative participated in the conference, along with candidates from the “New Energy Tech” initiative, who presented their projects to attendees.

A group of ambassadors from the “Energy Generation” initiative delivered a special presentation featuring the “Digital Carbon Passport,” highlighting the efforts of the initiative’s ambassadors to develop practical solutions for measuring and monitoring carbon emissions.

The conference also saw the announcement of the results of the Libya Energy Innovation and Research Award, as well as a presentation by a team from the Ministry of Oil and Gas on the latest technologies being developed in the oil and gas sector.

The conference program also included a panel discussion entitled “Responsible Business Practices and Investment in Libya’s Energy Transition: From Principles to Practice.” Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs.

Two discussion sessions were also held. The first addressed the role of women in Libya’s energy sector, while the second focused on the role of youth in Libya’s energy sector, with participation from representatives of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the United Nations Development Programme, and the Ministry of Youth.

The conference concluded with a session on responsible business conduct, the environment, and due diligence in the energy transition, presented by Sean O’Connell, an expert with the United Nations Development Programme.
