New York, September 23, 2026 (LANA) – Taher Al-Baour, the official in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, met on Wednesday with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, to discuss the latest political developments in Libya. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed the political situation in Libya and efforts to advance the political process and enhance security and stability. It also highlighted the importance of unifying state institutions and supporting efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen Libyan-U.S. relations and expand the scope of bilateral cooperation—particularly in the economic and development sectors—as well as encouraging investment and enhancing cooperation in the energy sector to serve the mutual interests of both countries.

Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of continued consultation and coordination between Libya and the United States, and supporting efforts to achieve security and stability in Libya and the region.
