Takala Discusses Latest Political Developments in Libya with Qatar's Ambassador

Tripoli, 22 September 2026 (LANA) – President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, today, Tuesday, discussed with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Libya, Khaled bin Mohammed Al-Dosari, the latest political developments in Libya, efforts to address the political deadlock, and support the national consensus process.

According to the Council's official page, the meeting was held at the headquarters of the High Council of State in the capital, Tripoli, and addressed ways to advance the political process toward stability and create the appropriate conditions for reaching a consensual and viable electoral process.

During the meeting, Takala stressed the importance of ensuring that the political process is based on Libyan ownership and respects the legal and constitutional frameworks, thereby ensuring that the competent Libyan institutions exercise their respective mandates, leading to free and fair elections, an end to transitional stages, and contributing to the unification of state institutions.

The two sides also discussed bilateral relations between Libya and Qatar and ways to strengthen and develop joint cooperation in various fields, as well as the importance of maintaining communication and consultation on issues of mutual interest.

The Council noted that the meeting also addressed support for efforts aimed at achieving stability and reaching a sustainable political settlement that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people.
