Takala: Libya’s crisis must be resolved by Libyans, based on national will.

Tripoli, 22 September 2026 (Lana) Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohamed Takala, affirmed that the solution to the Libyan crisis should be purely Libyan, based on national will and the supreme interest of the Libyan people, and grounded in solid legal and constitutional foundations, enabling Libyans to overcome transitional stages and reach comprehensive and sustainable elections.

This came in his opening speech yesterday, at the National Forum of the High Council of State and Libyan political parties and forces in Tripoli, held under the slogan “Towards a Political Life Shaped by Libyan Will,” in the presence of his two deputies, a number of Council members, representatives of political parties and forces, as well as a number of diplomatic missions accredited to Libya.

According to the HCS’s Media Office, the forum was held as part of the Council’s responsibility to promote national dialogue and consultation and to expand communication among various political forces in search of practical pathways that could contribute to overcoming the current political deadlock.

The forum featured discussions and an exchange of views on developments in the political landscape, as well as a number of initiatives and proposals aimed at bringing viewpoints closer together and creating favorable conditions for overcoming the state of political stalemate.

Participants stressed the importance of consolidating national consensus and continuing dialogue with all political parties, political forces and national components, in a manner that strengthens the unity of state institutions and safeguards its resources, while paving the way for a stable political transition led by Libyan will and culminating in elections.
