Minister of Industry and Minerals Discusses Support for Libya’s Transition to Green Industry with French Experts

Tripoli – September 21, 2026 (LANA) – Minister of Industry and Minerals of the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Abdel Qader, discussed today, Monday, with Expertise France areas of joint cooperation in energy efficiency and support for Libya’s transition toward green industry.

The ministry said, through its official page, that the meeting was the minister’s first with a delegation from the institution and was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in the capital, Tripoli, in the presence of representatives of the European Union Mission to Libya.

The ministry explained that the meeting addressed ways to implement the “European Union and Libya for Cleaner Energy and Industry” initiative, as well as mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between the ministry and the institution in several areas related to energy efficiency and sustainable industrial transformation.

The two sides discussed three main areas of cooperation: developing the regulatory framework and strengthening institutional coordination; capacity building and the transfer of international expertise; and implementing a number of pilot projects in the field of green industry.

The participating delegation included the Energy Cooperation Manager at the European Union Mission to Libya, the Program Director at Expertise France in Libya, the institution’s Deputy Program Director, and several members of the accompanying delegation. Representing the Ministry of Industry and Minerals were the Director General of the Green Industry Transformation Center, the Director of the Ministry’s International Cooperation Office, and several representatives of the center.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of continuing and strengthening joint cooperation to support sustainable industrial development efforts and contribute to advancing Libya’s transition toward a more efficient and sustainable economy.
