Tripoli, September 17, 2026 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, conducted a field tour on Wednesday evening to oversee the implementation of several road and infrastructure development projects in Tripoli. During the tour, he inaugurated the first phase of the first sector of the Al-Sarraj–Al-Swani road dualization project, following the completion of infrastructure works in that sector.
Dbeibah was accompanied on the tour by the Director-General of the Housing and Utilities Projects Execution Agency, Mohamed Ismail, and the mayors of the Hay Al-Andalus and Janzour municipalities. He inspected the progress of work and completion rates at several project sites.
The completed section of the first phase of the Al-Sarraj–Al-Swani road dualization project extends from the "Thallajat" (Cold Storage) Bridge toward the "T-junction," covering a distance of 1.3 kilometers, with a completion rate of approximately 70 percent.
Works carried out in the sector included the installation of stormwater drainage, sewage, and potable water networks, as well as electrical and fiber-optic infrastructure, in preparation for the final paving and associated project installations.
The Al-Sarraj–Al-Swani road dualization project comprises four sectors with a total length exceeding 11 kilometers. The scope of work includes infrastructure and paving, the relocation of cables and electrical substations, and the reorganization of existing utility networks, while work continues in the other sectors at varying stages of completion. During the tour, Dbeibah also inspected the scraping, maintenance, and repaving work on Al-Falah Road. The project covers a 1.25-kilometer stretch extending from the Al-Wadi intersection to the road opposite the Ministry of Justice, and from the area in front of the Ministry to the Second Ring Road.
The project entails removing old asphalt layers, repairing damaged sections of the base layer, and repaving the road with new asphalt. Additionally, it includes the construction of a traffic island and the installation of a modern lighting system, allowing for two traffic lanes and one parking lane in each direction.
