Tripoli, September 17, 2026 (LANA) – Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the United States for Arab and African Affairs, affirmed his country's support for the roadmap of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), which aims to achieve unified governance and hold national elections.

In a post shared by the U.S. State Department on its X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday evening, Boulos stated that he was honored to participate in the "Arab Media Summit" to discuss U.S. efforts regarding the situations in Libya and Sudan.

He explained that the discussion on Libya addressed U.S. support for the UNSMIL roadmap, noting that the plan aims to establish unified governance and conduct national elections.

He added that these efforts—as he described them—build upon U.S. President Donald Trump’s track record of resolving conflicts worldwide, emphasizing that "peace and stability are a vital interest for the region and the entire world."

Regarding Sudan, Boulos addressed efforts to push for a humanitarian truce, ensure the unimpeded flow of aid, halt external support, and work toward an inclusive civilian transition.
