Tripoli, September 8, 2026 (LANA) – The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, met today, Tuesday, with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Libya, Martin Reynolds, to discuss the latest political developments in the country, including the outcomes of the 4+4 meetings.

According to the Council's media office, the meeting addressed the latest political developments in the country, including the outcomes of the 4+4 meetings. Takala reiterated his position that any electoral process must be based on a clear legal and constitutional foundation and conducted within the framework of the relevant Libyan institutions and national consensus, thus supporting the achievement of free and fair elections that will end the transitional phases.

The meeting also included discussions on Libyan-British relations and ways to strengthen them. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued communication and consultation on issues of common interest and supporting efforts aimed at achieving stability and unifying institutions.
