Al-Menfi, During Reception of Misrata Military Council Delegation, Stresses Need to Bring Transitional Phases to an End

TRIPOLI, September 7, 2026 (LANA) – President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, stressed the need to bring the transitional phases to an end and prevent them from becoming a permanent reality.

Al-Menfi made the remarks during his reception today, Monday, at the Presidential Council headquarters in Tripoli of a delegation from the Misrata Military Council, in the presence of representatives from the city and other areas, according to the President of the Presidential Council’s Media Office.

Al-Menfi affirmed his support for every serious political settlement that would shorten the duration of transitional institutions, pave the way for completing the political process, and lead to national elections that would end the division and re-establish legitimacy on the basis of the will of the people.

According to the Media Office, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Libyan scene and developments at the political, security, and economic levels, as well as the requirements of the current circumstances to safeguard the national path and prevent any suspicious understandings or arrangements that could further complicate the situation or reproduce the state of division.

The meeting also addressed a number of issues related to combating corruption and organized crime, tackling fuel and resource smuggling and human trafficking, as well as strengthening the principle of accountability and confronting manifestations of impunity.

According to the President of the Presidential Council’s Media Office, the Misrata delegation affirmed its support for the positions of the President of the Council and his efforts to consolidate stability and advance toward a comprehensive political settlement that would bring the transitional phases to an end and create the conditions for presidential and parliamentary elections based on a clear constitutional and legal framework.

The delegation stressed that the Misrata Military Council would not stand idly by in the face of any suspicious agreements or arrangements that undermine the dignity of Libyans or infringe upon their will.
