Egyptian and Turkish Foreign Ministers discuss the latest developments in Libya by phone.

Tripoli, 7 September 2026 (Lana): Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed developments in Libya and a number of regional issues during a phone call, stressing the need to intensify efforts to contain escalation and promote security and stability in the region.

According to the official page of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the call addressed developments in Libya, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Iran, as well as ways to enhance coordination and consultations between Cairo and Ankara on regional issues of mutual interest.

The two ministers emphasized their countries’ commitment to further strengthening Egyptian-Turkish relations and expanding prospects for joint cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.

At the conclusion of the call, the ministers stressed the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts to contain tensions and escalation in the region, which would contribute to regional security and stability.
