Al-Baour Affirms Libya's Support for the Arab League and Its Commitment to Strengthening Its Role in Serving Arab Causes

Cairo, September 6, 2026 (LANA) — Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Nabil Fahmy received today, Sunday, Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, at the start of his visit to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to participate in the proceedings of the 166th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, scheduled to be held tomorrow, Monday, at the headquarters of the League's General Secretariat.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States welcomed Taher Al-Baour, expressing his appreciation for Libya's participation in the ministerial session and stressing the importance of continuing coordination and consultation among Arab states and strengthening joint Arab action in light of the developments and challenges facing the region, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity congratulated the League's Secretary-General on assuming his duties as Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, wishing him success in carrying out his responsibilities. He affirmed Libya's support for the League of Arab States and its commitment to strengthening its role in serving Arab causes and developing mechanisms for joint Arab action.
The meeting addressed a number of issues and topics of mutual interest, foremost among them developments concerning the Palestinian cause and the latest developments in the Arab region, as well as ways to strengthen coordination and consultation between Libya and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in a manner that contributes to supporting Arab causes and enhancing Arab solidarity.
