Tripoli, September 6, 2026 (LANA) – The Central Bank of Libya and the Ministry of Economy and Trade agreed on a set of procedures and measures to regulate and facilitate the opening of letters of credit allocated to finance the import of essential goods and supplies. This aims to enhance price stability and ensure a steady flow of goods to the local market.
This agreement was reached during a meeting held today, Sunday, between the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, and the Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, at the bank's headquarters in Tripoli. The two sides discussed mechanisms for providing essential goods and identifying the needs of the Libyan market according to priorities for the coming period.
According to the bank's official page, the meeting addressed mechanisms for the flow of letters of credit allocated to finance the import of essential goods and supplies. This aims to ensure the smooth flow of import procedures and the timely availability of goods for citizens.
