Tripoli, September 6, 2026 (LANA) – The Great Man-Made River Project Authority announced the resumption of water pumping operations from the Tarhuna pumping station towards the Al-Rabta pumping station, paving the way for water supplies to reach the cities of the Western Mountains.
In a post on its official page early Sunday morning, the Authority explained that the filling of the central pipeline, which extends for approximately 261 kilometers from Ash-Shuwayrif to the Tarhuna pumping station, has been completed. Technical preparations are underway to begin pumping water from the Tarhuna station towards the Al-Rabta pumping station.
The Authority indicated that water will continue to flow through the pipeline to the beneficiary areas, including the cities of Bani Walid and Tarhuna, and the cities of the Western Mountains.
The Authority emphasized that the completion of the filling and the resumption of pumping are part of efforts to ensure the continued water supply to the areas along the project's route.
