Egyptian Foreign Minister Holds a Phone Call with Boulos to Discuss Political Developments in Libya.

Tripoli, 6 September 2026 (Lana): Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call yesterday with U.S. President’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos to discuss political and security developments in Libya.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the phone call addressed ways to create the necessary conditions for making progress in Libya’s political process and ending the state of division.

Minister Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt’s efforts are guided by the priority of preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the unity of its national institutions, and he stressed the importance of ensuring that the political process remains exclusively Libyan-led, noting that holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously represents a key step toward restoring stability in the country.

The Egyptian Minister also stressed the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts in support of the political process, in a way that helps Libyans reach a sustainable settlement that reflects their will and preserves the unity of the state and its institutions.
