Tripoli, August 31, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah called for accelerating the digital transformation of higher education institutions and completing stalled infrastructure projects.
This came in a speech he delivered today, Monday, at the extraordinary meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, with the participation of university presidents from across the country, to discuss the current state of university education and priorities for developing the sector.
He also called for strengthening the role of universities and researchers in studying national issues and supporting decision-making, in addition to improving private higher education institutions and expanding international academic and research cooperation. Dbeibah emphasized that the stability of universities and the continuity of studies are a priority, stressing the need to move from addressing daily challenges to improving the quality of higher education and aligning its outputs with the needs of the labor market.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohammed Dbeibah, reviewed the measures taken to develop the sector, while the Council discussed postgraduate studies, private higher education, and international cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Ghalbon, the Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects, Mustafa Al-Mana, and the Director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Cabinet Office, Khalifa Shaliq.
