The government appointed by the House of Representatives welcomes the agreement of the "4+4" committee and considers it a step towards breaking the political deadlock.

Tripoli, August 31, 2026 (LANA) – The government appointed by the House of Representatives welcomed the signing of the outcomes of the “4+4” Joint Military Commission agreement at the headquarters of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in Janzour, Tripoli. The government considered the agreement an important national step towards breaking the political deadlock and returning to the national process.

In a statement issued by Prime Minister Osama Hammad regarding the Commission's outcomes, the government commended the efforts exerted by UNSMIL, which contributed to bridging the gaps and reaching this consensus. It considered this achievement a success attributed to the Mission and the negotiating team.

The government affirmed its aspiration to expedite the completion of the remaining outcomes of the Commission's work within the political framework. It stressed that the success of the agreement requires all parties to commit to its implementation according to the established timeline.

The government emphasized that the country has a genuine opportunity that must be built upon, stressing the necessity of prioritizing the national interest and moving steadily towards a unified state, unified institutions, and a unified national decision.
