Al-Baour and the Chinese ambassador discuss strengthening Libyan-Chinese cooperation in economic and development fields

Tripoli, August 31, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Monday, with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Libya, Ma Xueliang, to discuss ways to develop bilateral relations and enhance joint cooperation in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.

The meeting addressed prospects for expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and benefiting from Chinese expertise in the fields of infrastructure, development, reconstruction, energy, health, education, and training. It also focused on encouraging institutions and the private sector in both countries to establish partnerships and strengthen communication.

The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common interest and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation in international forums to contribute to supporting stability and strengthening cooperation between Libya and China.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts to elevate Libyan-Chinese relations and broaden their scope across various fields, in order to achieve the common interests of both countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chinese ambassador presented a commemorative calligraphic plaque to Taher Al-Baour, symbolizing Libyan-Chinese friendship, in appreciation of his efforts to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation.
