Tripoli 31 August 2026 (Lana) EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, expressed his hope that the aspirations of Libyans and their partners for peace, unity and a better future for the country would soon be realized.
This came in a tweet by Orlando today, as his tenure as the EU Ambassador to Libya draws to a close.
Orlando said he was leaving Libya deeply grateful for the hospitality and warm welcome he had received from the Libyan people, expressing his appreciation for their resilience in the face of adversity.
“It has been a privilege to serve twice in this beautiful country, and I remain profoundly grateful for the warmth and hospitality extended to me across Libya,” he stated.
“Once again, I have been humbled by the extraordinary generosity and resilience of the Libyan people in the face of adversity. I leave with the hope that our shared and enduring aspiration for peace, unity, and a better future will soon be realized,” he added.
Orlando concluded his message with the words "Arrivederci!" marking the end of his tenure as the EU Ambassador to Libya.
