Tripoli, 30 August 2026 (Lana): Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, Ulrika Richardson, discussed with Head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, the joint reports issued by the Bureau and the National Anti-Corruption Commission on fuel subsidies and the pharmaceutical sector, and ways to translate their findings and recommendations into concrete actions that contribute to strengthening the rule of law.

According to the UN’s official website, both agreed that publishing findings is an important first step, highlighting that meaningful change requires sustained follow-up and coordinated action by relevant government institutions and international partners.

Both sides underscored the importance of clearly communicating the findings and their implications to the public while maintaining momentum for concrete action in critical sectors, including oil and pharmaceuticals.

The UN reaffirmed its readiness to support stronger coordination and technical engagement for the implementation of the recommendations, helping relevant institutions translate facts and evidence into concrete measures that protect Libya’s national wealth and deliver greater benefits for Libyans across the country.
