Ministry of Health monitors the readiness of vaccination centers and the safety of the cold chain in Tajoura and Abu Salim

Tripoli, August 26, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity conducted an inspection and supervisory tour today, Wednesday, covering a number of vaccination centers and vaccine storage facilities in the municipalities of Tajoura and Abu Salim, to assess their readiness and monitor the quality of vaccination services provided to citizens.

The tour included the Director of the Ministry of Health’s Primary Health Care Department, the Director of the Vaccination Department at the National Centre for Disease Control, the Head of the Cold Chain Section within the department, and a representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) – Libya Office, along with a specialized team from the relevant departments and offices.

The tour included on-site verification of vaccine storage procedures, the efficiency of the cold-chain system, and the extent to which it complies with approved standards and specifications, ensuring that vaccines remain safe and effective from the time they are received until they are administered to beneficiaries.

The supervisory team stressed the importance of continuing field monitoring and strengthening compliance with approved standards for providing vaccination services and storing vaccines. The team also commended the efforts of doctors, medical support staff, and workers at the health centers and vaccination storage facilities in the two municipalities.
