Dbeibah discusses with the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs ways to enhance cooperation and support stability in Libya

Tripoli, August 26, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, met today, Wednesday, with the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, to discuss developments in bilateral relations and ways to enhance Qatar's role in supporting stability and political and economic processes in Libya.

Dbeibah welcomed the Qatari minister's visit to Tripoli and Benghazi, emphasizing the importance of continued communication with various Libyan parties. He stressed the Government of National Unity's aspiration for a greater Qatari role in the coming phase, one that supports efforts toward stability and consensus and strengthens regional and international coordination regarding Libya.

The meeting addressed the development of bilateral cooperation in several sectors, most notably energy and health services, and the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries into broader practical programs and projects.

According to the government's media office, the two sides also discussed developments in the quadripartite cooperation mechanism between Libya, Qatar, Turkey, and Italy on the issue of irregular migration. They discussed building upon the launch of the pilot operations room and strengthening joint cooperation programs in capacity building, combating irregular migration, and supporting voluntary return programs, thereby solidifying this framework as a practical mechanism for coordination and cooperation among the four countries.
