Benghazi, 26 August 2026 (Lana)—Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund Director-General Belgassem Haftar met yesterday in Benghazi with Senior Policy Advisor for Libyan Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, Jeremy Berndt.

“We discussed the work of the Fund and ways to strengthen U.S.-Libyan economic cooperation,” Berndt said in a tweet.

“We also underscored the importance of the unified budget agreement and the adoption of additional reforms to safeguard Libya’s financial stability and its technocratic institutions,” he added.
