Al-Dbeibah and Brent Discuss Bilateral Cooperation Between Libya and the United States and Support for Unifying State Institutions

Tripoli, August 23, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdulhamid Al-Dbeibah discussed with Jeremy Brent, Senior Adviser for Libyan Political Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, cooperation between Libya and the United States and ways to support efforts to unify state institutions and strengthen coordination among them in a manner that contributes to consolidating political and economic stability.

According to the Hakomitna government platform, the two sides expressed their support for the agreement reached by the 4+4 Mini Dialogue Committee and its initialling, considering it a key step toward completing the process leading to elections and consolidating stability in the country.

The meeting also addressed follow-up on the implementation of the Unified Development Agreement and the importance of unifying the efforts and institutions concerned to ensure the implementation of its provisions in accordance with established controls and priorities, thereby enhancing the efficiency of public spending and supporting economic stability.

The two sides also discussed prospects for Libyan-American cooperation in the fields of energy, investment, and development, as well as encouraging American companies to expand their presence in the Libyan market and benefit from U.S. expertise and technologies to support vital sectors.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of supporting partnerships between the two countries in a way that contributes to strengthening the national economy, creating investment and employment opportunities, and improving the level of services.
