Tripoli, August 23, 2026 (LANA) – President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, today discussed developments in Libya with the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires and Senior Adviser for Libyan Political Affairs, Jeremy Brent, and the Embassy’s Head of the Political and Economic Section, David Linfield.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Head of the Council’s Political Committee, Mohamed Maezab, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the current political crisis in the country and ways to advance the political process.
They also discussed efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution that would end the state of institutional division. The importance of coordinating local and international efforts to support the democratic process and creating the appropriate conditions for holding fair and transparent national elections that meet the aspirations of the Libyan people for stability and development was emphasized.
