Libyan-American Cooperation in Air Transport

Tripoli, August 23, 2026 (LANA) – The US Embassy in Libya announced that Libyan military officers from the east and west of the country visited Ramstein Air Base in Germany from August 3 to 6 to learn about air transport operations, aircraft maintenance, and airport management.
In a post on the “X” platform yesterday, Saturday, the embassy explained that the Libyan officers met with US pilots from the 86th Air Transport Wing, toured the air traffic control tower, and viewed the C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft. They also participated in a flight on board to learn about its capabilities in tactical air transport.
The embassy emphasized that the interaction between members of the Libyan Air Force from across the country reflects the United States' commitment to supporting Libyan efforts to unify and enhance the efficiency of military institutions.
For its part, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) affirmed that cooperation in air transport strengthens relations between the United States and Libya, noting that the visit focused on the shared commitment to regional stability and building a more secure and prosperous future for North Africa.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, welcomed this step, emphasizing the importance of continued communication among Libyan military leaders from across the country, which contributes to achieving unified military and security institutions and building a more stable, secure, and prosperous society.
