Dbeibah is monitoring the electricity and fuel situation and has directed the formation of a joint coordination room

Tripoli, August 19, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah met today, Wednesday, with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleiman, to discuss the electricity and fuel situation and the urgent measures being taken to address current bottlenecks and ensure stable supplies.

The meeting addressed the quantities of gas and liquid fuel supplied to power plants, consumption rates and the actual needs of the plants, as well as the progress of supply and distribution operations in various regions.

Dbeibah stressed the necessity of daily and direct coordination between the NOC and the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), and the need for immediate action to address any shortages or emergencies that may affect electricity generation or distribution.

For his part, Suleiman affirmed the NOC's continued commitment to supplying power plants with gas and liquid fuel according to available quantities, while prioritizing GECOL's supplies to support the stability of generation operations and the grid.

The meeting also discussed the fuel supply situation for citizens. The NOC Chairman confirmed the regularity of supply and distribution operations and the absence of any obstacles to providing the required quantities, urging citizens to avoid crowding at fuel stations to ensure smooth distribution and the delivery of supplies to all regions. Al-Dbeibah directed the formation of a joint coordination room comprising relevant authorities to monitor the daily quantities of fuel and gas allocated to power plants, track the needs of the electricity grid, and intervene immediately to address any bottlenecks, while submitting periodic reports on the level of implementation and results.

Dbeibah called on the relevant authorities to continue working at an urgent pace to address bottlenecks in electricity and fuel supplies and ensure a consistent supply, which will reflect positively on the stability of the grid and meet the needs of citizens in various regions.
