Al-Sunni discusses with the President of the Security Council for the month of August the latest developments in the situation in Libya

Tripoli, August 17, 2026 (LANA) – Libya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, met with Ambassador Christina Lassen, Denmark’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, whose country holds the presidency of the Security Council this month, to discuss the latest developments in Libya and the challenges facing the political process there.

Al-Sunni explained in a tweet posted today, Monday, on his Twitter account that the meeting was part of consultations among Security Council members, noting that they discussed the latest developments in Libya and the challenges facing the political process.

He added that he also held a meeting with the African Ambassadors Group on the Security Council (A3), which includes Liberia, Somalia, and Sierra Leone, dedicated to consultations and unifying the African position on the situation in Libya.

Al-Sunni stated that he briefed the African Group on the political, economic, and security situation in the country during the meeting.
