NOC and Akakus Discuss Strategic Plans to Boost Production.

Tripoli, 17 August 2026 (Lana) National Oil Corporation (NOC) held its 2026 Technical and Financial Meeting for Akakus Oil Operations and discussed operational and financial performance results and proposed strategic plans for the coming period.
According to a statement by the NOC's media office, the meeting addressed the operational performance of the Sharara oil field, which achieved outstanding production levels, peaking at approximately 335,000 barrels per day in August 2026.
Plans aimed at increasing total production to approximately 355,000 barrels per day by mid-2027.
Participants commended the company's teams for their rapid response and the efficiency of the measures taken to control the fire on the main 30-inch export pipeline last March, which ensured operational safety and continued exports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on a set of strategic priorities for the coming year, including organizing two workshops bringing together the Corporation, its partners, and the operator to discuss development plans for the (S) field and development drilling programs for 2027.
Other priorities included enhancing production sustainability and maintaining operational performance levels, expediting the implementation of urgent safety projects and fire suppression systems, proceeding with the development roadmap for the Sharara and upgrading its surface equipment, and completing approved maintenance work within allocated budgets.
The meeting was attended by the corporation's directors of technical and financial departments, advisors, and specialists. Representing Akakus Oil Operations were the Chairman and members of the Management Committee, directors of technical departments, and specialists. Representatives from the foreign partners—Repsol (Spain), Total (France), OMV (Austria), and Equinor (Norway).
