Egypt Renews Support for Libyan Political Process

Tripoli, August 14, 2026 (LANA) – Egypt has renewed its support for a Libyan political process leading to presidential and parliamentary elections.
This came in a statement by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty during consultations with his Turkish counterpart on Thursday in the Egyptian city of El Alamein.
According to the official page of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized during the consultations Egypt's support for the Libyan political process and the necessity of reaching a national settlement without external dictates or interference, which would contribute to achieving security and stability in Libya.
The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional issues and developments of common interest, foremost among them the situation in Libya, stressing the importance of continued close coordination between the two countries at the bilateral level on this matter.
