Al-Abed signs a memorandum of understanding with his Turkish counterpart that includes training and the movement of labor

Ankara, August 13, 2026 (LANA) – Ali Al-Abed, Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan in Ankara, the Turkish capital. The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the areas of labor mobility and the exchange of expertise and experiences in vocational training and rehabilitation.

Al-Abed emphasized that signing the memorandum with the Turkish side represents a significant step towards strengthening cooperation in the labor sector and benefiting from Turkish expertise and experience in developing the vocational training system and raising the efficiency and qualifications of Libyan personnel, in line with labor market needs.

According to the Ministry of Labor, the minister indicated that the memorandum establishes a framework for cooperation in regulating labor mobility and the exchange of expertise and knowledge, contributing to achieving common interests and opening new horizons for cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security affirmed the importance of the memorandum of understanding in strengthening cooperation between Libya and Turkey in the fields of labor, training, and skills development. He stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and experiences and developing competencies to support the needs of the labor markets in both countries.

The Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation affirmed that this step represents an important addition to its efforts to build effective international partnerships and benefit from international experiences in developing the training and rehabilitation system, thus contributing to preparing qualified national cadres capable of competing in the labor market.
