The Interior Ministry of the Government of National Unity opens an office to combat human trafficking crimes.

Tripoli, August 13, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced the opening of the Anti-Human Trafficking Office within the General Security Apparatus and security checkpoints on Thursday. This initiative aims to strengthen the system for combating and addressing these crimes.

The opening ceremony was attended by several leaders from the Ministry of Interior, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Libya, ambassadors and representatives from embassies of brotherly and friendly countries, representatives of relevant international organizations, and a number of officials and stakeholders.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the establishment of the office reflects the Ministry's commitment to developing specialized security work, enhancing mechanisms for combating human trafficking in accordance with international and national standards and agreements, and activating cooperation and coordination with relevant national and international bodies. This will contribute to reducing these crimes and prosecuting perpetrators in accordance with applicable legislation.
