Sirte Oil Company boosts gas production at the Hatiba field by adding approximately (5) million cubic feet per day

Tripoli, August 13, 2026 (LANA) – National personnel at Sirte Oil Company for Production and Manufacturing successfully brought well S-24 in the Hatiba field, the company's largest gas field, online and connected it to the gas processing plant. The well has a production capacity of approximately 5 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page today, Thursday, the company explained that bringing the well online will contribute to stabilizing gas supplies and maintaining targeted production rates. This will meet the needs of the industrial complex and the Libyan Fertilizer Company's plants, and enhance the reliability of supplies to vital industrial sectors.

The company noted that gas production rates in the Hatiba field have witnessed a significant improvement recently, following the connection of wells S-02 and S-28, rising from approximately 90 million cubic feet per day to 103 million cubic feet per day. It emphasized that connecting well S-24 aims to maintain these rates and ensure their continuity.

She added that the well connection work was completed using the company's own resources, through the optimal utilization of available materials and equipment, and with the participation of the Production, Field Maintenance, and Petroleum Engineering departments, along with the Technical, Transportation, and Support Departments.

The Chairman of the Board emphasized the importance of completing the gas system development projects and connecting the production of the Hatiba field to the Istiqlal field. This will allow for the optimal utilization of available gas quantities, unify its flow through the main pipelines, and increase the system's flexibility and capacity, thus supporting plans to increase production and maximize the benefit from gas resources.

The Chairman commended the efforts of the employees involved in the drilling, preparation, and connection work, praising their efficiency and dedication at the production sites. He also expressed his appreciation for the National Oil Corporation's support of gas projects and its commitment to increasing production rates and enhancing energy security.
