The High Council of State is following up on the work of the committees and has formed two committees for electricity and economic reforms

Tripoli, August 12, 2026 (LANA) – The Office of the Presidency of the High Council of State decided to form a committee for economic reforms. This committee will coordinate and work jointly with the relevant committee in the House of Representatives and the Central Bank of Libya to prepare a comprehensive package of financial and economic reforms. It will also monitor public spending, expenditures, and financial allocations to enhance fiscal discipline and safeguard state resources.
This decision was made during a meeting held today, Wednesday, by the Office of the Presidency of the High Council of State, chaired by Mohammed Takala. The meeting focused on reviewing several administrative and organizational matters, the work of committees, and the procedures required for the next phase.
The Office also discussed the formation of a parliamentary committee to monitor the situation of the General Electricity Company, identify the causes of the deficits and imbalances that prevent it from meeting citizens' needs, study the challenges facing the sector, and propose solutions to improve its performance and ensure service stability.
