Aguila Saleh discusses with Fidan the unification of institutions and the latest political developments in Libya

Benghazi, August 12, 2026 (LANA) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his accompanying delegation in Benghazi on Wednesday, in the presence of the Chairman of the House's Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee, Youssef Al-Aqouri.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly nations. Discussions also covered the latest political developments in Libya and ways to end the Libyan crisis in accordance with the will of the Libyan people. Several other issues of mutual interest were also discussed, primarily the situation in the region.
During the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed his support for the reconstruction and development projects underway in Libyan cities through the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund. He expressed his welcome and appreciation for the Turkish companies contributing to this development boom in the cities and regions of eastern and southern Libya, according to the House spokesperson, Abdullah Blihaq.
The Speaker also stressed the necessity of ending the Libyan crisis by unifying state institutions and holding presidential and parliamentary elections that reflect the will of the Libyan people.
