Tetteh Meets With a Delegation From the City of Surman.

Tripoli, 12 August 2026 (Lana) Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Hanna Tetteh discussed yesterday with a delegation from the city of Surman the current situation in the city, including the recent fighting that has affected the city.
According to the Mission, the delegation included First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Fawzi Noueiri; Mayor of Surman, Mohsen Abu Sneina; and Head of the Council of Elders and Notables of Surman, Fathi al Moshalfah.
The Mission stated that the delegation highlighted the challenges facing the municipality, such as smuggling activities, security-related tensions, and irregular migration, and underscored the increasing pressure these issues are placing on local authorities and service provision.
Tetteh expressed her full support for efforts to restore stability and emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and upholding human rights, highlighting the role of state institutions in supporting efforts to foster the necessary conditions for lasting peace and security in the city.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the latest political developments in Libya and the importance of advancing the political process forward.
