Tripoli, August 11, 2026 (LANA) – The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that a diesel tank at the Zawiya oil complex was targeted this evening, Tuesday, by a drone equipped with explosives. This marks the fifth such attack, resulting in the tank being breached and a fire breaking out.
In a press briefing (3), the NOC stated that attacks on oil assets at the Zawiya oil complex continue, targeting fuel tanks. The latest attack occurred this evening, when the roof of diesel tank number 4/4 was targeted by a drone equipped with explosives. This was the fifth such attack, causing the tank to be breached and a fire to erupt. The NOC noted that emergency and safety teams were able to contain the fire and prevent its spread as quickly as possible.
The NOC added that this fifth attack came after the refinery had resumed operations following a shutdown caused by previous attacks. The fourth attack occurred in the early hours of this morning, targeting diesel tank 2/4 and causing a fire. Emergency and safety teams were also able to contain this fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent tanks, with no casualties reported.
The National Oil Corporation reassured citizens that fuel supplies were not affected, thanks to God, and that the process of supplying fuel stations is proceeding according to the usual schedule and mechanism and with the same quantities required daily, stressing that the fuel stock was not affected and there is no need to crowd at the supply stations.
