Tripoli, August 9, 2026 (LANA) – President of the Presidential Council and Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army Mohamed Al-Menfi affirmed that building a unified, professional, disciplined Libyan army with a national doctrine represents a fundamental pillar in building the state, consolidating its stability, and ensuring a secure future for its coming generations.
In a speech marking the 86th anniversary of the founding of the Libyan Army, he said: “As we commemorate this anniversary, we are not merely celebrating a history that has passed, but a homeland that deserves to be protected and an army that must remain one army.”
He added that the greatest tribute to the founding fathers is not in repeating their names, but in completing what they began: one state, one sovereignty, and one national military institution.
Al-Menfi continued, according to the media office of the President of the Presidential Council, that despite the challenges and obligations facing Libya, “we are moving forward with firm determination and steadfast resolve to complete all steps aimed at unifying the military institution and consolidating its national foundations, so that it operates under unified civilian leadership, with its allegiance to God and then to the homeland, and its purpose being to protect Libya, safeguard its security and stability, and preserve its sovereignty and resources, away from political divisions and internal disputes.”
