Dbeibah: A Fully Established State Cannot Exist Amid Multiple Armed Forces or Weapons Outside Its Institutions

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, August 9, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibah affirmed that a unified national army remains one of the pillars of the state and one of the most important guarantees of its security, stability, and sovereignty.

In a post marking the anniversary of the founding of the Libyan Army, Dbeibah said: “A fully established state cannot exist amid multiple armed forces or weapons outside its institutions. Therefore, unifying the military institution, consolidating its professionalism, and placing weapons fully under the authority of the state and the law remain among the priorities of the state-building project to which Libyans aspire.”

He added: “The Libya we want is Libya as a state... a unified state with a single decision, an army that protects its borders and resources, and regular security agencies that enforce the law and safeguard the security and dignity of the citizen.”

On this occasion, Dbeibah extended a salute of pride to the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the Libyan Army, as well as to all members of the military institution who have continued to perform their duties under the most difficult circumstances, remained committed to their national mission and the honor of the military uniform, and upheld their duty to defend the homeland.
