Ministry of Health Announces Arrival of Viral Testing Reagents to Enhance Blood Bank Readiness Across the Country

Tripoli, August 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity announced the arrival of supplies of viral testing reagents for blood banks, in implementation of the Prime Minister's directives. Distribution to blood banks across the country is scheduled to begin on Thursday according to their needs, ensuring the continuity of blood transfusion services and enhancing the readiness of healthcare institutions.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, the Ministry said that the Prime Minister had instructed the Medical Supply Agency to expedite the provision of essential supplies for blood banks as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of blood transfusion services, in coordination with the National Blood Transfusion Services Authority.
The National Blood Transfusion Services Authority affirmed that viral testing reagents are among the essential supplies required for the operation of blood banks, given their role in conducting the laboratory tests necessary to ensure the safety of blood units before they are used. It added that the availability of these reagents would improve the operational efficiency of blood banks and enable them to continue providing services to citizens.
The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to continue monitoring the provision of the technical and logistical requirements of blood banks, in coordination with the National Blood Transfusion Services Authority and the Medical Supply Agency, in a manner that enhances the sustainability of blood transfusion services and strengthens the readiness of healthcare institutions throughout the country.
