Amman, August 5, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, emphasized the importance of preserving the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Libya, and supporting its national institutions.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman on Wednesday, the two ministers exchanged views on developments in Libya, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abdel-Aty and Attaf also stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement, led and owned entirely by Libyans, that would lead to simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized the importance of continued coordination among neighboring countries and building upon the outcomes of the tripartite mechanism of neighboring countries, in order to contribute to supporting security and stability in Libya and the region.
