The Western Coast Military Region announces the preparation of a military force to be stationed in Surman

Western Coast, August 4, 2026 (LANA) – The Western Coast Military Region announced the deployment of a military force throughout the city of Surman to assume responsibility for securing the city and protecting the prison, in accordance with the directives of the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Dr. Salah al-Din al-Namroush.

The region added that this deployment comes within the framework of implementing security measures aimed at strengthening stability and protecting vital facilities, with the withdrawal of all armed formations from within the city, thus contributing to consolidating security and creating conditions for the return of normal life.

According to the Western Coast Military Region, this step falls within the ongoing efforts of the General Staff to support security and stability, and to enable the legitimate authorities to perform their duties, thereby strengthening state sovereignty and preserving the security of citizens and the safety of public and private property.
