Al-Baour Discusses with Turkish Ambassador Political Developments and Libya's Hosting of the Africa-Turkey Summit

Tripoli, August 3, 2026 (LANA) — The Assignee to Manage the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Al-Taher Al-Baour, discussed today, Monday, with the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Güven Begeç, the political developments in the country and Libya's hosting of the upcoming Africa-Turkey Summit.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, ways to enhance and develop them across various fields to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The two sides reviewed the latest political developments in Libya and the efforts exerted to advance the political process in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the Libyan people, emphasizing the importance of continuing to support endeavors aimed at strengthening aspects of security and stability, and preserving Libya's unity and sovereignty to contribute to consolidating sustainable development and stability.

Al-Baour also reviewed the outcomes of Libya's participation in the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, held in Addis Ababa on July 28–29, which witnessed the signing of the agreement for Libya to host the upcoming Africa-Turkey Summit.

Al-Baour affirmed that this step reflects the growing confidence Libya enjoys at both the African and international levels, and underscores the return of its active presence in regional forums. He pointed out that hosting the summit represents an important milestone to enhance the partnership between the African continent and the Republic of Turkey, and to expand horizons of cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, infrastructure, and development, thereby supporting common interests and reinforcing Libya's role as a hub for communication and cooperation between Africa and its partners.
