Sisi and Dbeibah Discuss Developments in the Libyan Crisis

Tripoli, July 30, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, head of the Government of National Accord, in the Egyptian city of El Alamein on Thursday.

The Government of National Accord's media office reported that the meeting addressed the latest developments in the Libyan political situation, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest, and strengthening cooperation between the two countries in infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, security, and institutional capacity building. The meeting also included follow-up on the work of the Libyan-Egyptian High Committee, gas interconnection projects, and training and capacity-building programs.

According to the office, both sides affirmed during the meeting the importance of supporting efforts to consolidate stability in Libya, backing the political process, and strengthening joint coordination to contribute to preserving the country's unity, supporting state institutions, and creating the necessary conditions for completing the political process and ending the transitional phase, as reported by the media office of the Government of National Unity.

The two sides also stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on issues of common interest, in order to enhance the security and stability of both countries and serve the interests of the Libyan and Egyptian peoples.

The meeting was attended, on the Libyan side, by National Security Advisor Ibrahim Dbeibah and Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, while on the Egyptian side, it was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aty, and Director of the General Intelligence Directorate Major General Hassan Rashad.
