Ambassador Thabet meets with Nabil Fahmy.

Tripoli 29 July 2026 (Lana) Ambassador Abdel-Muttalib Thabet, Libya’s permanent representative to the League of Arab States and Chargé d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Cairo, met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, to offer congratulations on the occasion of his assignment to the duties of Secretary-General of the League.

During the meeting, Thabet conveyed greetings and congratulations of the President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul-Hamid Dbaibah, and Acting Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Al-Taher Al-Baour, wishing him success in performing his duties.

The Libyan ambassador affirmed Libya’s full support for the new Secretary-General, commending his diplomatic and political experience and appreciating his upcoming role in strengthening the role of the League of Arab States and developing mechanisms for joint Arab action to confront regional challenges.

They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between Arab countries and support the League’s efforts in the areas of political, economic, and development work.

Ambassador Thabet stressed Libya's commitment to continue its support for the Arab League as a comprehensive framework for joint Arab action, emphasizing his country's commitment to contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing security, stability, and development in the region.

For his part, Nabil Fahmy expressed his appreciation for this congratulation, stressing the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between Arab countries to enhance the role of the League in serving common Arab issues.
