Al-Baour discusses bilateral relations and a number of security and economic issues with the Tunisian Foreign Minister

Addis Ababa, July 28, 2026 (LANA) – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Baour, met today, Tuesday, with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, to discuss bilateral relations and a number of security issues. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union Ministers of Foreign Affairs, held in Addis Ababa.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries. The Tunisian Foreign Minister expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the support provided by Libya, both government and people, to Tunisia on all levels.

The two sides also discussed several security issues of common interest, primarily combating smuggling and human trafficking. They emphasized the importance of strengthening security coordination and intensifying bilateral cooperation to serve the security and stability of both countries.

The discussions also covered ways to develop economic cooperation, support joint infrastructure projects, encourage investment, and activate the free trade zone and trade exchange between the two countries, thereby contributing to enhanced economic integration.

The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and support for common positions in regional and international forums, in a way that serves shared interests and strengthens Arab and African cooperation.
