The agreement to host the 2026 African-Turkish Summit in Tripoli was signed in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, July 28, 2026 (LANA) – An agreement was signed in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Tuesday, regarding the hosting of the African-Turkish Summit, scheduled to be held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, from December 8 to 9, 2026.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity stated that the agreement was signed on behalf of Libya by Ambassador Abdulhakim Ghaith, Director of the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of the African Union Commission by Mr. Steve Lalande, Director of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Department at the Commission.
The Ministry considered the signing of the hosting agreement an important step in the ongoing preparations to host the summit in Tripoli. It reflects the confidence placed in Libya to host major continental and international events and underscores its commitment to strengthening partnership and cooperation between the African continent and the Republic of Türkiye.
